The Local #35 Website message board is intended to allow it's members (and, rarely, approved guests) written interaction, primarily to discuss Union issues. Please observe the following guidelines: - TOPIC: The first post of a message thread typically establishes the Topic of the thread; try to keep your replies to it associated with the Topic. If it's something totally different, it should probably be started as it's own Topic. Also, please try to only reply in some way that "supports" the original topic by adding to the conversation; it doesn't have to agree with the original Topic, but a reply needs to actually add something to the conversation. Replies that don't add to a Topic ("filler") will most likely be removed.
- LANGUAGE: A good rule of thumb is the `common man' test: if the Common Man wouldn't want his mother to read the language in the article, it probably shouldn't be there. I'm not going to tell you exactly which words can and can't be posted, nor in what context they can be used. I'm going to rely on the fact that most of you have some common sense in this regard. An occasional bad word can add needed emphasis; an unnecessary one won't. If you're not sure if it's acceptable, just don't do it.
- FLAMING: Posting messages to for no other reason than to take cheap shots at another member won't be tolerated. It's one thing to take a jab at someone in support of your argument; unnecessary attacks on another members character or reputation is another thing entirely. If you're not sure if it's acceptable, just don't do it.
About Avatars: avatars are those JPG's that you insert into your messages to uniquely identify you. Make sure they're sized appropriately. If your avatar is large enough that it compresses your actual message into the right side of the screen, you'll be asked to fix that. So What Happens If I Don't Do These Things? We're not here to make your life hard; in most cases, people will make honest mistakes. I'll remove the message (or edit it in some insignificant way), contact you about it, and try to move on. On the other hand, if you're intentionally causing a problem, you'll be denied access to the message board system ("clipped"). That's it for now. These rules are subject to change without notice.
